When interviewing DUI lawyers, always interview at least three different lawyers. During the interviews ask them questions to find out more about them and your experience.
Examples of questions you could ask are “Did you graduate from an accredited law school?”, “How many years of experience do you have?”, “How many of those years were dedicated to DUI cases?”, and even “Do you specialize in DUI?”
You can also check attorney ratings by professional organizations like the AVVO rating system, or the Martindale Hubbel international directory of attorneys which is the most prestigious and has been around for over 100 years.
If a lawyer makes a promise to you, it’s a bad sign. For example, if they promise you they will win your case, you should find a different lawyer. It is both unethical and impossible for a lawyer to make such promises to you.
